LOVELY FEW DAYS AWAY (1)
What a lovely few days we’ve had staying with our daughter Joules and grandson Ashley. Grand daughter Laura is away at present, enjoying her gap year before starting university in Brighton later in the year. Laura set off on her travels in January and has so far visited Thailand, Singapore and now she travels onto Bali.

I always enjoy the journey to Oxfordshire as we travel through ever changing scenery, quite different to that of our surroundings here in Wales. The contours of the land flatten considerably as we proceed further into England, farming changes from sheep to arable. I do love to see the fields of England, cultivated and growing crops. The sight of fields of corn, oats and barley is something I truly miss in Wales.

In the churchyard of the village where my daughter lives is the grave of the famous authoress & playwrite, Agatha Christie. I took a photograph of it, but unfortunately it isn’t too clear. In the tourist season it becomes quite a place of pilgrimage by her many readers who leave flowers in her memory. It was nice to see that even on a cold day in February, a few flowers had been left there.

So lovely you showed us this. I read all Agathas stories when I was young. I'm a little bit suprised that the grave is quite simple. Wasn't she famous when she was still alive? (Or just afterwards)

Thanks for stopping by and leaving me your comments everyone.
I must admit that my visit to Agatha Christie's grave prompted me to look for more information about her. This is where the internet is such a wonderful thing, at the touch of a couple of buttons I discovered this web site which you may find interesting...

She died in 1976 and apparently, at the time of her death, she was the best selling English novelist of all time. Marion

Marion - those photos do two things to me: 1, I get v v homesick looking at them, 2. I love looking at them and re living my times in the UK, I am thinking of visiting mum and dad maybe later on this year. I have never seen that grave, didint know agatha christie was buried there....what good photos!

This is one of the things I remember most about England....the beautiful greens in contrast to the lovely old tomb stones with all the mossy adornments. Love seeing one of my favorite writer's burial sites. Thanks Marion
