I’VE BEEN TAGGED.....

FIRST BY ALICE AND SECONDLY BY CAROL, BUT, THANKFULLY ITS THE SAME TAG.

WHAT WERE THREE THINGS YOU WANTED TO BE WHEN YOU GREW UP.....
Own a sweet shop
Breed Persian cats
Become a Journalist
(I pursued none of these childhood dreams, instead I worked for Staffordshire County Police Force, then later in the travel business.)

YOU CAN RELIVE ONE DAY FROM YOUR CHILDHOOD, WHICH ONE WOULD IT BE..... Coronation Day - 2nd June 1953. My father bought our first TV for this very special occasion. We were the first in our street to have one. It was a very exciting day and neighbours and friends were invited to join us. Extra chairs were found for the grown-ups and us children sat crossed legged on cushions on the floor. Of course the TV was black & white, my memories are of a small screen set in what seemed like a huge polished cabinet. Everyone dressed up in smart clothes and us girls had red, white & blue ribbons tied in our hair.
Such an unforgettable experience. I'd never been to London and I was so impressed to see some of the sights and especially the golden state coach the Queen travelled in. I remember the Queen of Tonga followed in the procession in an open carriage, she was a very large lady, dressed in very colourful robes. Outside, the street had been decorated with red, white & blue bunting strung across from the houses and flags were flown from windows. There was a street party held afterwards and each child was given a commemorative coronation mug and a copy of the New Testament.

YOU HAVE TWO MINUTES (& MOVER WITH YOU IF YOU NEED HEAVING LIFTING HELP) TO GRAB 5 THINGS FROM YOUR HOME BEFORE IT MORPHS INTO A POLKA DOTTED HOBGOBLIN & HOPS AWAY. WHAT WILL YOU TAKE (FOOD/DRINK/FAMILY/FRIENDS EXCLUDED).....
Mother's jewellery
Family photos
Handbag (complete with toothbrush, lipstick, journal & pen)
My Summer House
My Hostess Trolly circa 1970's (at the insistance of my daughter who is adamant she doesn't want to inherit it)

YOU HAVE TO PAINT ONE QUOTE ON YOUR KITCHEN WALL, WHAT IS IT GOING TO BE......
We cannot direct the wind but we can adjust our sails

WHAT IS THE ONE THING YOU WANT TO HAVE ACCOMPLISHED BY THE END OF THE YEAR.......
To come to grips with this new computer (failing that, a daily call from from my son (IT expert), to ask if all is running smoothly and trouble shoot whenever necessary)

YOU ARE MOVING TO THE MOON FOR ONE YEAR & CAN ONLY BRING ONE FLOWER WITH YOU, WHAT KIND WOULD IT BE.....
Sunflower, so I can eat some of the seeds and sow the remainder to grow more flowers

YOU HAVE RECEIVED WORD THAT AS WELL AS THE FLOWER, YOU CAN ALSO BRING FIVE BOOKS, WHICH ONES WILL YOU BRING.....
Complete Works of Shakespeare
A Child in the Forest - by Winifred Foley (it makes me laugh)
The Bible
Dictionary (to improve my word power)
And.... Lastly, but by no means least -
'So! You've got a Hostess Trolley! Lets Get Started' By Fanny Craddock

I'm new to this, but as I see it, I now have to tag three others, so here goes....

Krissie - Escapology
Mindy - Peaceful Corner

Krissie... Yes, Fanny Craddock was quite a formidable person. She must have been dreadful woman to work alongside. I pitied her husband Johnny, she really bossed him about. Occasionally we'll get clips of her cookery programmes shown again. I have to smile at her make-up, all that eyeliner, she looked quite scarey.
Christopher - Well spotted! Trying to catch your mother out! Yes, it was B&W TV, but remember, in those days we had only been used to radio and commentators at such occasions, were used to giving very detailed & graphic descriptions to set the scene for us. Marion
