LITTLE CORNERS FOR BOOKS

I love my books, particularly the old leather bound ones and I have little collections of them in different rooms of my home. Most of them are poetry books that I’ve had for many years. As a child I would love to go with my father searching out old book shops. We had a particular favourite which was in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. Very dusty and dimly lit, but nevertheless, we found many a little treasure there. I remember there was a little wooden stool placed near a window, I would sit there in better light to leaf through what I thought was an interesting book. I have such fond memories of those days out with my Dad. We’d usually take a picnic with us, which we would eat by the riverside, whilst chatting excitedly about the day’s finds. Now, these little corners in my home, not only hold my books, they keepers of many beautiful memories.
The tall bookcase contains the works of Charles Dickens, a wonderful gift from my brother.

A beautiful childhood memory and very well written! I love that pretty bookshelf containing the Dickens collection. We have bookshelves everywhere too. They give a home character I think, don't you? I wish I had more time to read all the books!!
My husband's grandmother (his mum's mother) came over here from Wales. It's such a beautiful place and I love those names...Bridgnorth, Shropshire....
Don't you love the aboriginal place names found in Australia? We have a lot of Indian place names over here in the US...like Syracuse, Oneida...There are a lot from other countries too, come to think of it.
