FRUIT BOX

I bought a little box of mandarins at the weekend, I purposely chose the ones packed in a little box, they looked so pretty and I thought I would use the box for something else afterwards.

This reminded me of a little table I made a few years ago (just dug it out from the loft), it is made from a larger, but similar type wooden fruit box. I'd re-enforced and shaped the legs with cardboard and pasted on a number of layers of papier mache, I'd painted, decoupaged, and finally gave it a coat of crackle glaze.

Hey Marion!

Well done! What a great idea!

And I loved your Cotswolds pictures and descriptions and also the story of Francis Lovell the ghost of the Minster Lovell Manor House! Spooky indeed!

Hello Ladies...
I’m pleased that you liked the little table I made from a fruit box. Its good to make something pretty from an item that would normally be thrown out into the refuse bin.
The crackle glaze doesn’t show too well on the top of the table, reason being, in my eagerness, I didn’t let the undercoat paint dry properly. It shows up on the sides and underneath better tho’.
I shall make my newly acquired box box into a container for my seed packets. I show when its done. Marion

This is unbelievably charming. What do you have envisioned for how the seed packet box/tray will look?

Nancy Jane... Thank you for stopping by and leaving a nice comment about my box. I shall make the little orange box into a pretty container to keep seed packets. Do keep in touch, I looked for your email address, but couldn't find anything. Marion
