THE SEASONS - SPRING

Time passes so quickly these days, its hard to believe that we are at the beginning of the fifth month of the year already. I’m reminded of the old rhyme that refers to ‘March winds and April showers bring forth May Flowers. How true! As temperatures have gradually increased through March and April the month of May really bursts forth to such a glorious climax and declares that Spring really is here.

May is my very favourite month and nothing can surpass the joy I feel to breath the scent of flowers and newly cut grass on a warm day.

The glory of this month is so apparent now, fruit orchards are full of blossom, woods are carpeted with bluebells and the hedgerows and banks in country lanes are so vibrant with spring flowers, whilst the air is full of bird song and buzzing bees.

May really is the month of flowers.

Oh, to be in Britain at the moment, to see, smell or hear the flowers, cut grass and even the rooks. The lambs remind me of the cute little lambs, many with black faces, that we used to see on Dartmoor, only a few hundred metres from our house in Ivybridge.

Hello Marion!

I just said the same in my blog today, I mean that May is my favourite month of the year! (followed by June when the roses are starting to bloom)

Yes, May is a beautiful month, but in June my roses are flowering, and september is a wonderful month. You must see all our asters and chrystantems!

Ah, we have had five sheeps, when I was a child. But no lambs

A beautiful post Marion. Love the yellow flowers and the sweet little lambs. Doesn't it give you the most wonderful feeling to see all the new growth and spring colours? I love May too!
We're having a little light rain this morning, which we badly need.
Your words are so beautifully descriptive!
