MOTHER’S CHEST OF DRAWERS

This was my dear Mother’s chest of drawers and in it I keep the beautiful table linen I inherited from her. Some of the items I do believe, she too inherited from her Mother.

Mum always set her table with a white cotton lace edged cloth. Her personal tray for afternoon tea would be set with an embroidered cloth and napkin and she always drank tea from a china cup and saucer.

Going through the drawers brings back so many fond memories, just seeing and touching these everyday items of her life. I regularly use these cloths and enjoy seeing the family gathered around my table, as we once gathered around hers.

I shall never forget my Mother,
For it was she who planted and nurtured the first seeds of good within me.
She opened my heart to the impressions of nature; she awakened my understanding and extended my horison, and her percepts exerted an everlasting influence upon the course of my life.

Such beautiful linens Marion. I, too, love using the things that my Mom and Grandma used. They make me feel so much closer to the both of them.
Lovely post!

Oh Marion, the chest of drawers is a gorgeous piece of furniture and the linen is simply beautiful! Such wonderful memories they all hold for you and I think it's great that you still use the linen...too many times we store away such items and don't use them, therefore missing out on the memories they behold! Loved this post! Hugs!!

Dear Marion - you really need another chest of drawers as that one is way too full .... lol.

Seriously, it is a lovely chest and the linen is not only beautiful but holds such treasured memories for you. Those loving aspects of your mother have been passed on to you, and I'm sure your daughter has inherited them, too. How wonderful to also have this tangible reminder of your mother every time you use these beautiful linens. I'm sure they bring you even closer.
