A HAPPY MISTAKE
I was both inspired and encouraged by Anita - My Country Cottage Garden Blog http://ein-stueck-garten.blogspot.com/ to have a go at making a decorative patchwork heart. It has taken me a bit of time to get around to doing this, so I’ve missed out on the vintage heart swap that has recently been set up for interested bloggers to participate in.
However, during the last few days, I’ve drawn on my limited patchwork skills and made a start. All seemed to be progressing well, until I realised that I’d mistakenly cut off the top portion of my backing fabric, which was also acting as my pattern, so I had to cut anew, the top part of the heart. This is where it all went badly wrong and when John saw it he said this top part looked more like a pair of rabbit’s ears, which I had to agree, it did.
I was so disappointed, after all my efforts, there was no way I could salvage this, without, yes! cutting the so called 'ears' off and calling my heart a little bag instead.
I think my little bag looks quite pretty as a first attempt, despite it having had a change of identity from what it started out to be. Hence a ‘happy mistake’ after all.
