MISTS AND MELLOW FRUITFULNESS

Although there is a nip in the early morning air now and the dew lingers long on the lawns, these mellow days of September bring a joy to behold.

Mornings are an incredible sight, as mists hover mysteriously over the countryside then evaporate quickly as the sun comes up and the day becomes gloriously warm.

This is indeed the month of ‘plenty’, be it harvested from the garden or the hedge row. Apples hang heavy on our trees and from the veggie plot there has been a bountiful supply of potatoes, beans, courgettes, beetroot, swede, onions and salads. And my garden continues to be a tapestry of colour as the following pictures show......

Hello Marion.
'Mornings are an incredible sight, as mists hover mysteriously over the countryside then evaporate quickly as the sun comes up and the day becomes gloriously warm.' That is poetry Marion! I read it over and over again...beautiful and so are the pictures, have you got all that in bloom. You sure live on the sunny side./Tyra

Good morning Marion,
Your garden is just full of beautiful delights!
I'm also looking forward to fall, but it will be about another month before it really feels that way here!

If one day you find that delightful oriental seat gone - follow the wheel tracks to Dorset! Ive seen them in garden centres, but havent bought one as I am still, still hoping that I will get a wisteria arbour/pergola built. But this would be a brilliant second best under the wisteria. Is that a passionflower creeping nearby?

There must be moments when you wish you could 'snap freeze' September and have it last forever. Of course, it's the other 11 months that make you appreciate this one so much.

Marion (and John) your gardens are an absolute delight and a credit to you. You must be so thrilled with the vegies, especially.

We can never get enough photos of your lovely gardens, Marion, so out you go and take plenty more ...lol.

Marion, I found your blog through Susie's (above) blog.

Your close-ups of flowers in your garden take my breath away.

We had our first taste of fall today in the Chicago area. I turned off the air and threw open the windows to let in all that wonderful freshness that a drop in temperature creates. We will need to throw on a blanket tonight when we go to bed.

Hi Marion

I'm back! I have just been reading some of the posts that I missed and I wanted to say that I do hope that you are feeling better. Pleurisy can be very debilitating. Do take care...

Marion, your garden looks beautiful and I see, you have Fuchsias. I've baught me four at the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery, and the told me, that they are hardy - but may be not in Germany! :(

I've baught also two books about fuchsias in this nursery, and two of the fuchsias I must overwinter in the house. But where? No idea.

Beautiful photos Marion and a wonderful harvest.
I brought back lots of Cox's and Bramleys from Cotswolds and my place has taken up such a sweet smelling aroma. And the taste!

Isn't it wonderful sharing these last blooms of summer? You have plenty of beautiful, bright colors left.
Guess what Marion? I had the first 2 of your yellow Four O'Clock flowers yesterday! I lost the first seedlings to rust-wilt, so I started more. They're late, but at least I can say I've seen the flowers! I hope this brilliant weather holds to give the plants a chance to open more blooms.
Thanks again for the seeds. It's such a treat to know they came all the way from Wales...gathered by your very own hands :)
Your beautiful description of the morning could describe our September mornings too. This week's weather has been glorious.
Hope you're feeling much better.
xoxo
