Looking through my pictures and thinking what I should write about today, I came upon some local scenes I realised I hadn’t posted.
These pictures were taken during August, we had our friends Cicely and Trevor staying with us at the time and as they were travelling back the following day we decided to spend it at a leisurely pace by staying local and taking a picnic to one of the nearby lakes.
Its a stunning location and illustrates well the magnificent scenery we are surrounded with. Out to the east, we have the natural wild beauty of the mountains and then by simply turning to the west you take in the breathtaking views overlooking the coastline of Cardigan Bay. I feel the beauty in this part of Wales is unsurpassed in the British Isles.
You know! I sometimes catch myself wishing we had better shopping facilities locally, but then, I only have to stop and look around me and I’m soon reminded what I truly do prefer.
I hope you too enjoy my local scenes.... If you click on the pictures you'll see finer detail. The second picture below shows our picnic spot, you'll see our red cool box.

It IS beautiful, the scenery you live in! Really! And you know it yourself and you are thankful for it! This is wonderful! It is a pity that sometimes people do not see or recognize how beautiful the place is where they live. There is a proverb in German, saying "look, the good things are so near" and Antoine de Saint Exupéry also said once "one can only see well with the heart" (the translation is bad, I know, but I guess you'll understand what I wanted to say). Barbara
These are like postcards!! Beauty in each picture!! My you must feel really special to live in a place like this. I can see you would want the shopping but I guess you have the best part of the world..its beauty!! Thanks for sharing with us again..Sandy
Marion, I have to agree with you that these photos show some of the most beautiful scenery! And I agree that I'd much rather live without all the shopping and have the parks and forests. My husband's family name originates from Wales and I have many English ancestors. The colors and terrain of the British Isles must be imprinted in me so strongly because I am completely drawn into these photos.
Dear Marion, I just can't even imagine standing there and taking in that beauty. Not to mention the refreshing clean air. Yes, I think I would rather travel a little to go shopping. Thanks for sharing your photos.
Hi Marion, What gorgeous photos! It looks like a delightful place to live and the picnic area is so serene and scenic. I think being surrounded by such beauty would more than compensate for the lack of shopping.. xo
Your pictures are lovely, but a better description is heavenly. I came from Beth's new blog. I believe I could be content being at home surrounded by all the beauty.
At first I thought, "I really miss the trees. I wish there were more trees there." But the more I looked at the photos, the more serene, peaceful and beautiful they became.
If you had a larger shopping town, you'd soon have everything that goes with it, Marion. I'm sure you know in your heart which you prefer. That scenery is priceless and it must do wonders for your spirit.
Thanks dear Marion for such beautiful pictures. I do so love Wales and wish we lived just a little nearer. I am still posting on the Cotswolds and still have quite a few more.
With such beautiful countryside surrounding you, you must feel like you're living in paradise. It's glorious Marion and your photos are superb! We aren't very close to the shopping malls and bigger grocery stores either, so I can empathize with you, but the country is certainly the best place to be. And you, lucky thing, have the wonderful coast as well!! That's what I miss! Your 4 O'Clocks are still going strong (so you know you're thought of daily!) and Anita's white marigolds are looking so pretty. What a treat! No frost yet!
Thanks for posting the pics of that gorgeous scenery, Marion. It's good to see that there are people about who realise how beautiful our planet really is.
My Mum lived in North Wales for over 20 years and I've visited there frequently. Such stunning scenery in that part of the world. Some of your pictures have such a familiar feel to them. Enough to make me feel homesick!
Beautiful photos - I know that part of Wales - my Grandparents lived nearby and Mum was born and raised there. My Aunt and a cousin still live close by. We hope to visit over the next year or so as we have a huge number of old photos we want to try and find out about.
I live in a small Welsh village which is situated in the southern tip of the Snowdonia National Park. Its an area of true outstanding natural beauty. We have the Cambrian mountains to the east of us and the coast of Cardigan Bay out to the west. My husband and I moved to Wales from The Cotswolds in England 19 years ago. We bought the old village Police Station, which we have worked tirelessly renovating ever since. You could say its a real labour of love. I have retired after working many years in the travel business, this now leaves me free to pursue the many things in life that I enjoy.

Marion, I'm so glad you posted these! What fabulous scenery. What town is that along the water that the bridge is leading to? It is all so lovely.

Have posted more on Cotswolds with still several more to go.
Thank you so much for sharing those lovely glorious images. How perfect it all seems, on a dark autumn night, perched on the edge of winter.
I so enjoy living within an easy drive of the sea. Its so comforting knowing its there, unchanging yet always changing.

Those are beautiful pictures. The countryside is breathtaking. I loved seeing the stone fences, especially the one that ran to the house by the sea.
Today I found your blog and I like it very much. I see you live in a wonderful landscape. Great Post! I will com back soon.
