Do you speak Welsh, Marion? Are there areas of Wales where only Welsh is spoken, no English?
Yeah I saw signs in welsh when we went to Cardiff in 2004 and I couldn't understand them, that's for sure.
Alice... No, I don’t speak Welsh, but John is commencing Welsh lessons very soon! The village we live in is actually a Welsh speaking community. However, all are bi-lingual. Children are taught through the medium of Welsh with English being their second language. Great efforts are made to keep the language alive and there are some jobs, such as local government/council/education etc, that are only open to Welsh speakers.
Carol... Its nice that you have been to Wales. As the Welsh tradditional song goes...
'We'll keep a welcome in the hillside,
We'll keep a welcome in the Vale.
This land you knew will still be singing,
When you return again to Wales.
