PLENTY TO CROW ABOUT....

During our last holiday weekend, three local villages organised an event which has proved so popular that I’m sure it is set to become an annual one. As well as numerous fund raising activities that were taking place, the main attraction for visitors was a wonderful array of scarecrows that could be found around the village, in front gardens and other unlikely places.

Like other visitors I was so impressed with the creative talent and imagination used in the making of these colourful characters which at times brought passing traffic to a complete standstill.

There was a great holiday feel everywhere and just about everyone had made an effort to have a scarecrow of some design or other in their garden.

As you’ll see brides were a favourite choice, and one appears to be carrying a little more than a bunch of flowers. To my surprise I did encounter a couple of ‘live’ scarecrows, I wonder if you can spot them.

I hope you enjoy a glimpse of what was a great weekend and one that all ages enjoyed taking part in. Congratulations to the villages concerned you certainly have plenty to crow about.

Ha ha Marion I was going to say that Lady next to you doesn't really look like a scarecrow and when I enlarged the pic I saw she really isn't lol Great pics!

I loved seeing all the scarecrows! We don't usually see them except at Halloween or sometimes in fields of vegetables out in the country..

Aren't they fabulous! I remember visiting a scarecrow festival in a Yorkshire village and I was amazed at the care and attention to detail taken in creating them.
