OUR FIRST DAY IN AMERICA: Continues in part 2.....

After visiting Miss Mary Hayes’ gorgeous home, Imogene took us on a tour of the neighbourhood.... what a sightseeing that was..... such beautiful homes set amidst glorious gardens... this is something that impressed me so, there is so much space everywhere, unlike what now seems rather cramped conditions in our little village, but I guess..... that’s America for you..... it’s big!

We had the great privilege of stopping by at a friend of Imogene’s and I was so thrilled when we were cordially invited to take a tour of the garden.... and what a garden it is..... I’m sure you will agree.

Here is dear Betty standing under the beautiful rose arch as we enter the garden

The vegetable garden was a sight to behold..... with vegetables growing to 'exhibit' standard in immaculately kept raised beds

Here stands Mindy, Betty and Imogene in front of the prettiest porch complete with hanging baskets and roses spilling over the balcony, and yes! you can just see those famous rockers that I fell so much in love with.

A shady and welcome seating area... ideal to sit a while and take in the view.

The rose garden.... as with everywhere...... maintained to a high standard

And just look...... isn't this tempting on a hot day....
Had enough of swimming? then why not simply relax in the jacuzzi....

How about this for a BBQ?

Another aspect of the garden.....

Even the utility area is a dream.....

Nature is allowed to grow wild in the wild flower garden.....

A hedge of gorgeous pink roses.....

This cooling picture of the reflection pool completes our tour of this fabulous garden. I so much appreciated the opportunity to visit..... I left, taking wonderful memories I will treasure for ever.

We drive onto another gorgeous garden, this one belongs to Mindy's friend Sandra. Again I was overwhelmed by its spaciousness with neatly tended flower beds, attractive red brick paths and walls and vast terraces.....

.......and, what about this for a garage, I think it would make a sweet little house!

Here we assemble for a group picture at the end of our visit.... John, me, Mindy, Betty and Sandra.... who gave us a very warm welcome and a very interesting and factual tour of her lovely garden. Thank you Sandra.

As they say..... 'all good things must come to an end' and so our beautiful tour of gardens ended this day. We bid our fond farewell and grateful thanks to dear Imogene when we dropped her off at her lovely home. What a lovely sweet lady Imogene is.

However, the day is far from over..... We set off on another adventure as we head for the cabin in the mountains. to be continued........

My Marion, you were treated to some luxury I see!! Nothing like how we live. We are very simple people here. I loved looking at your pictures. I am so glad that you had such a great visit and very treated to so many gorgeous places.
